Harry Potter™ Fever in Singapore: Harry Potter™ The Exhibition at The ArtScience Museum (Part 1 of 2)

NOTE:  Hi!  Hope everyone's ok now after the recent floods and rains last week.  Hope you're all doing great!

Fresh from success of their recently concluded Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands here in Singapore once again brings another totally entertaining exhibit to the public -- Harry Potter™: The Exhibition.

Enter the world of witchcraft and wizardry

Like everyone else, I too have read the books (Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone is still my favorite out of all 7.)  And when the films came out, well, it was great getting to see the book come to life (although I still prefer the novels.)

All 8 movie posters are on display outside the exhibition proper

Harry Potter™: The Exhibition showcases a number of props and costumes used by the actors in the films, bringing them closer to their legions of fans.  Composed of various sections, each area is devoted to a special aspect of Harry Potter's magical world.

Ron, Harry and Hermione

You enter through a magical mist into a lobby where 2 volunteers are chosen to be lucky enough to get to wear the sorting hat and who are then sorted into their respective houses.

From there, guests are ushered into a room which shows snippets from the Harry Potter movies.  And then the fun starts!  Going around the different sections to view the artifacts inside the exhibit.

The flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Unfortunately, just like with the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition (read my post about it here), it's forbidden to takes videos or shots of the various sections and items.  And like a good enough visitor, least I suffer from expulsion, I stay true and pocket my trusty camera (where's an invisibility cloak when you need one?)  Hence, pictures set forth are taken from the Harry Potter™: The Exhibition's website and the ArtScience Museum's facebook page.

Pulling out baby Mandrakes from the pot.  Actually tried this and have been rewarded with a shrill
ringing in my ear which persisted even though I've "replanted" them back to their own pots.

I simply love the moving pictures and the replica of the Great Hall.  Traipsing through the Dark Woods section was totally eerie.  I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

At the end of the exhibition is, of course, a small souvenir shop selling various Harry Potter-inspired memorabilia and knickknacks.

There are replica wands of the characters, brooms, books, house scarves and even glasses similar to the "boy who lived's."  But if you ask me, the best items to have are Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and the Chocolate Frogs (more on them in the next post.)

My meagre stash

My verdict?  A really good exhibition to visit especially for die-hard Harry Potter fans.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition will run til September 30, 2012.  Tickets (S$24 or Php790*) are available on site or thorugh bookings at their website.  For more information, please visit http://www.harrypotterexhibition.com/ for more information.
